What crane mats are capable of

Crane mats also known as bogmats, are sturdy panels made of hardwood, in our case Beech and Oak European hardwood. They are used to create temporary roads, pathways or work platforms on unstable, soft or difficult surfaces. The main use of crane mats is to prevent damage to the subsoil and increase stability during (lifting) operations. They spread the pressure and thus minimise damage to the subsoil, while supporting heavy vehicles and distributing the load. Crane mats also offer improved accessibility on muddy, sandy or snowy sites and increase safety by providing a stable surface for operations and preventing damage to underground infrastructure.

Purpose of crane mats

Crane mats have various purposes in different sectors. They are widely used in construction for building roads, bridges, pipelines and other large construction projects. They also find application at events, such as festivals or concerts, to improve accessibility for vehicles and pedestrians and minimise damage to the ground.

We import our own European hardwood from our regular European sawmills. As a result, we know exactly where our wood comes from and are assured of a consistent and good quality!

All our European hardwood meets the European EUTR requirements. These guidelines were drawn up by the European Union to prevent and combat illegal logging.

After producing the crane mats, we sell them worldwide. We do not waste any wood left over during production; everything is reused, even the sawdust!

Need top quality?

As standard, our crane mats are made of the wood species oak (strength class: D40) or beech (strength class: D30). These are obviously sturdy crane mats, but should you want crane mats that can last for decades to come, you may want to consider purchasing bogmats made of Ekki.

Ekki is tropical hardwood (strength class D70) and these crane mats are produced by our parent company, Welex B.V.
